Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.
Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

I've had my Kitchenaid cooktop installed for about a month and I'm very pleased with how it operates. As with every new appliance, it just takes a little while to get use to it. The grates sit up higher than my previous cooktop; however, once the pan heats up the cooking time is about the same. The knobs are of good quality and work great. I really like how easy it is to clean; the little round disks that sit on top of each burner come off easily. If you are looking for a new cooktop this one is a winner. It takes ages to boil a pot of water. Very disapppointed. I want to know if there is a way to change the gratets or it is almost useless. Originally posted on Kitchenaid.com

please be aware that the gas stovetop grills moves while STIRRING the Pots while cooking. The reason being the BASE OF THE GRILLS have no place to hold the grills in place. Therefore the Grills easily slips-off the base of the stovetop making this gas stove a BURN DANGEROUS situation that can happen without warning. ps. the rubber based foot -- on the grills has no place to fix on the stovetop. Lowes is selling this model stovetop and the only one in their store. Originally posted on Kitchenaid.com

The total surface area is on the small side if you like to use 10" skillet. Things get a bit tight with the big pans and the power well leaves a little you on the weak side. Originally posted on Kitchenaid.com

It takes forever to cook anything. It literally take more tahn 15 minutes to boil one glass of milk on it and we were not able to cook pancakes on it. Just the middle burner works fine. All the other 4 burners are not of any use. I believe the grates are to high, its almost 1.5 inches from the flame. We just move into our new house 15 days ago and we just hate this cooktop. We fights everyday for this selection of this cooktop. Worst product of Kitchen Aid. Originally posted on Kitchenaid.com

I bought this about a month ago and can't say enough about the five burner counter top stove. It's great to cook on gas stove especially when using this product. The heat distributes evenly and if you have larger or smaller pots then you can use the feature on the stove top that caters to the size of your pot/pan. Originally posted on Kitchenaid.com

I purchased this product a month ago and am not satisfied with it. My wife and I both cook and we made a mistake buying this product. If you cook and entertain this is not the cooktop for you. There is not enough room to accommodate 3 10-12 inch pots and pans/skillets. You need to maneuver them to fit or the knobs will become so hot you cannot touch them. And due to this maneuver to fit them, it causes the heat to not distribute properly. If you want a 30 inch cook top that looks nice but not effective then this is the product for you. Lastly, It was a surprise to see how Whirlpool-Kitchen Aid do not care. Originally posted on Kitchenaid.com

Though the unit is absolutely beautiful I found two things that needed improvement, 1- you can barely read the controls in front of the nobs they should have been done in a stand out color like Kitchen Aid red , 2- thought I was getting nobs with lighting features to let you now the burner is on however that's not the case with this unit !!!!! It's a great cooktop especially for such a small space. Concerned about cleaning the stainless burner which I did today. Soap & water wouldn't remove cooked-in stains. I used Barkeepers Friends which may have been too harsh. Any suggestions? Originally posted on Kitchenaid.com

I purchased this cooktop a month ago. I am reasonably happy with its performance. However, there are some design flaws. The grates are positioned too high above the burners so it takes an unreasonably long time for a pot of water to boil. Make sure you use the proper burner for the job. Placing a small pot on one of the front burners only burns the side of the pot and does not heat the contents since the two front burners are for large pots and pans. It would be preferable to have one small burner in the front and not two large. Along with my cooktop purchase, I purchased a KA single wall oven that was installed below the cooktop. If you are small in stature you might want to rethink this configuration. KA oven door handles extend quite a bit which forces you to stand back from the cooktop. And, since the knobs on the cooktop are stationed in front and not on the side, you need a long reach to access the two small back burners. If you like stainless steel appliances, you'll have to deal with the smudge marks. I do love the simmer burner. Along with the overall look of the cooktop, the simmer burner is my favorite feature. I am so excited to have this new cooktop. I love cooking with gas. This model has 5 burners and the center burner is really a two in one. My favorite feature is how easy cleaning up is. This replaced a 17 year old GE Gas 4 burner cooktop when we updated our countertops. So happy with the flame control and especially the 'melt' burner when I need a very low simmer. Have only been using for a month but looking forward to many years of use! Originally posted on Kitchenaid.com

2 years and it needs to be replaced? Consider buying a better-quality cooktop. All my appliances are brand new Kitchenaid and I know better. I should have consider purchasing a different brand of cooktop, but wanted all the appliances to "match". Problem #1-you just barely tap on the knob and it ignites, to be safe you should take your knobs off. Problem #2-the feet fall off easily and to get replacements you must buy the WHOLE burner? If I replace the burners $300.00 in just two years. I had a Jenn Aire that the burners are still great after 20 years. Problem #3-the knob background is falling off. Please see photos below. This new one was a replacement of an older Kitchenaid 30" that I wore out. The new design is very pleasing to the eye. I like that the grates are raised up and that the surfaces are coated with something that makes clean up very easy. I love cooking on this cooktop. Originally posted on Kitchenaid.com

We love the utility of this cooktop. Five burners in a 30" unit. The dual power center burner is a terrific feature. If I had to make one criticism, it would be that the guides around each knob could be more readable. Too subtle in color to be easy to see. Otherwise a great product. Pros: I love the look, finish and quality of the product. It is very well made and likely to stand up to many years of use. Cons: Designed by people who probably never cooked a meal in their life or else cooked for only large families. First - The heat spreaders are very large. By large I mean that you cannot use a pan smaller than 8 inch diameter on even the small burner. larger pans (10 - 12 - 14 inches) needed for the large burners. I need to boil 3 eggs every morning. It used to take about 4 - 5 minutes on my old electric cooktop (3 minutes on my portable induction cooktop). With this cooktop I have to use a larger pan/pot which means more water and a correspondingly longer cook time (10-12 minutes at least). If I try to use large burners the flames spread out beyond the base of the pot and heat both the handle and the exhaust vent above. For heating large pots and pans, this cooktop is excellent and I have no complaints. Second - The space between the top of heat spreader and bottom of pan is almost 2 inches. This allows a lot of heat to escape from the bottom. I understand that this space allows heat to spread evenly across the bottom of the pan and reduce hot spots but it also creates a lot of inefficiency. I would strongly recommend that you try and actually use one of these cooktops before buying. Most of my complaints will not affect you if you cook large quantities of food or use large pans.
